HISTORY
The Azienda Agricola La Prendina has a brief history in the wine business. It was acquired in 1958 and after changes to the field structures it began to yield excellent grapes from the vines with the benefit of the owner's experience in Custoza. However, there are plenty of traces of Prendina as a farm that go back many centuries. Maps back to the 14 th and 15 th centuries, the period of the Gonzagas of Mantua, indicate how old is the farm.Oral testimonies handed down suggest the presence of a church and a tower, historically called " colombaia ". It was a typical farm building of a square tower with three storeys, which belongs to the current buildings and is represented in the company logo.At first the wines were sold under the Cavalchina brand. Then the first wine to use the name of La Prendina was a Merlot bottled in 1980 for Gualtiero Marchesi; also today the Merlot is the vine that gives the best results. It was only in 1990 that we see the wines of La Prendina sold under the name “La Prendina”. The success of La Prendina in the market is due mainly to the bordeaux vines and the "Vigneto del Falcone" which is the flagship wine of the estate in the guides and in the international wine tastings.
